"I stayed at La Nena for 7 days, late January 2014. What a wonderful experience!! Noemi and Roberto are delightful hosts, the rooms are very clean and comfortable--including aircon, flat screen TV, private bathroom with hot water in the sink and the shower. Every breakfast was delicious, fresh bread, eggs with cheese and ham, juice etc.
Noemi is quite fluent in English and is ready to answer questions and give you ideas for seeing the local area. Although overall Caibarien is somewhat run down, casa La Nena is refreshing, and a relaxing place to stay...and it sparkles. Roberto literally went the extra mile to ride his bike along with me to show me the road along the Malecon and another road that went out to the peninsula. Virtually no traffic and a great place for a bike ride. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Cuba." | "Hostal La Nena was my home for 4 days and 3 nights in January 2014 as my travels took me to Caibarien. Noemi, Roberto and their adult son were warm, caring and welcoming. Noemi has many years of experience in the hospitality industry and it shows. Her English is very good. The casa is well situated. It is on a busy street and I enjoyed reading my book on the large balcony up front while watching the world go by. This casa is new, Noemi and Roberto added a whole new second floor on top of their living quarters. This offers great privacy to the renters. The entire second floor offers for the renters: 2 bedrooms with their own private bathrooms, a common living room with plenty of seating and a large balcony with wooden rocking chairs. There is also a large rooftop terrace overlooking the city. The rooms offer a stocked mini fridge, a flat screen TV and DVD player, a comfortable bed, a full bathroom, a small vanity with mirror, A/C and wall mounted fan. Decent water pressure for Cuba and lots of hot water. The food is excellent Cuban fare, in generous quantities, and served in the main dining room or out on the backyard patio if you prefer. Breakfast is included in the price and other meals are offered for an extra fee if requested. Noemi's house is clean and sparkling.
