LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
The Universidad a block away, boasts a beautiful and quiet campus, [Our very old photos here], a remarkably quiet place in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown. Calle San Lazaro goes downhill (photo above) from the steps of the U, crosses the whole Centro area and goes all the way to the Malecon. Going down Concordia towards and across Infanta to and through Centro, one can walk about a dozen blocks to the Capitolio and Parque Central and then reach Habana Vieja. Turning left down Infanta towards the seaside Malecon you reach an open-air fruit and vegetable market, then the busy corner where the former offices of Cubana de Aviacion, Aero Caribbean, LTU and other airlines resided by the Banco Metropolitano and further up towards the Yara and the Habana Libre, the International Press Center. |
